Descended from settlers arriving in the Willow Glen area of San Jose in 1850, Douglas Scott Maynard is a seventh generation Santa Clara County resident. Due to a long family history in the County, there are many street names and place names honoring his family members, ancestors and cousins. Included among these are: Hamilton Avenue, Stevens Creek Boulevard and the City of Campbell.
Mr. Maynard was born in San Jose, California and grew up in the area originally known in the 1800's as "Hamilton" (which is between the Willow Glen area of San Jose and the City of Campbell). He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California at Santa Cruz in 1974. After working in construction for two years to pay for his education, he went on to attend Santa Clara University where he graduated with his law degree, a Juris Doctorate in 1979. He later obtained a graduate degree in tax law (LL.M. Taxation) from New York University in 1980.
As part of the practice, Mr. Maynard has traveled extensively throughout the world handling local, regional and international legal issues. His work and personal interests have taken him to over 55 countries on 5 continents and he has extensive familiarity with and fascination of the cultures and peoples of many far away places.
